Come to the White Center Spring Clean-up on May 8th sponsored by the White Center Community Development Association! This is a community-wide effort to put a fresh coating of paint on many of the downtown buildings, clean up trash and "spruce up" the neighborhood. Additionally the WCCDA has many longrunning projects (public art, clean and safe committes, affordable housing outreach, etc etc.) which are all trying to collectively make WC a better place to live. The WCCDA office is at 9615 16th Ave SW. Drop in and sign up to volunteer, the first step in making one''s community better, getting involved!

I currently have a team working with Westwood Christian Assembly on 16th ave sw, the White Center Camber of Commerce and ACORN (a community activism org.) to develop a homeless "day" shelter. This ministry would provide homeless in White Center and surrounding areas with a shower, quality free clothes, a hot meal, job training opportunities and a message of hope.
I am also working to establish a stradigy to address the gang and prostitution issues in our community as well.
Please keep these issues as a matter of prayer.

You are right, if there are porn movie stores, taverns, gambling and night clubs, it envites the wrong people to the community. How can it be stopped? who do we call? Who do we go to, to start a community watch of some sort or something! Hookers, drug dealers, and homeless are starting to rule White Center, We need as a community to take our community back. How can we do it? We need a group or someone that is in some kind of power of authority to guide us.

I believe that the businesses in White Center can either be a source of strength or a point of weakness for OUR community.
For example: Porn shops and bars do nothing to enhance the struggling image of our community. This industry may generate large amounts of money for our economy but at what price?
On the other hand, family owned and oriented businesses such as restaurants and retail stores create a more healthy enviroment for everyone.
My vision is to see the businesses of White Center come together and support each other by encouraging healthy business practiv\ces that strengthen our community.
